Comments

When you leave a comment on our site, the data in the comment form, as well as your IP address and the user agent of your browser are collected to help us detect unwanted comments.

A anonymous string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. You can find the Gravatar service’s privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public next to your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the site, we recommend that you avoid uploading images with EXIF GPS data. Visitors to the site can download and extract location data from these images.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you will be offered the opportunity to save your name, email address and website in cookies. This is for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in these details again if you leave another comment later. These cookies expire after one year.

If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie will be created to determine if your browser accepts cookies. It does not contain personal data and will be deleted automatically when you close your browser.

When you log in, several cookies will be set up to save your login information and screen preferences. The lifetime of a login cookie is two days, and the lifetime of a screen preference cookie is one year. If you select “Remember me”, your login cookie will be kept for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookie will be deleted.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie does not contain personal data and simply indicates the ID of the article you have just modified. It expires after one day.

Embedded content from other sites

The articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other sites behaves in the same way as if the visitor were visiting the other site.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged into that site.

Use and transfer of personal data

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Data storage times

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are kept indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and automatically approve follow-up comments instead of leaving them in the moderation queue.

For accounts registered on our site (if any), we also store personal data provided in their profiles. All accounts can see, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except their username). Site managers can also view and edit this information.

Your rights to your data

If you have an account or have left comments on the site, you can request to receive a file containing all personal data that we have about you, including those that you have provided to us. You can also request the deletion of personal data concerning you. This does not take into account data stored for administrative, legal or security reasons.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments can be checked with an automated comment detection service.
